Prompt to SVG

What to write, and how the five styles change what comes back.

The one rule

Ask for flat colour on a plain background. It is the single biggest lever on output quality. Clean in, clean out.

a fox mascot head, flat colours, plain light grey background

Everything else in this page is a refinement of that.

Writing the prompt

Write it the way you would brief a designer, not the way you would write a search query.

DoDon't
Name the subject and the shape of itWrite "logo" and nothing else
Say how many colours, if you careAssume the model will guess
Say "flat colours" if you want a clean traceAsk for soft gradients, then wonder why it banded
Name the background, or say noneLeave it to chance

Length: 3 to 2000 characters. Under 3 is rejected before it is charged.

The five styles

style is the only place your prompt gets words added to it, and only because you asked for that style.

StyleAdds to your promptUse it for
autonothingDefault. Good when you do not know yet
flatflat colours, no gradients, clean shapesLogos, icons, anything you intend to trace hard
icona single centred mark, heavy shapesApp icons, favicons, UI glyphs
logoa mark with space around it, few coloursBrand marks, wordmark companions

flat traces to a fraction of the paths of illustration. If file size matters, start there.

Quality

qualityCostWhen
standard$0.03Default. Right for almost everything
hd$0.08 square, $0.10 wideFine detail, or a source you will print large

Shape

aspect sets the canvas. It does not crop your subject.

ValuePixels
1:11024 x 1024
3:21536 x 1024
2:31024 x 1536
16:91824 x 1024
9:161024 x 1824

Wide and tall canvases cost more to generate, because the image model charges by pixel area. A 16:9 frame is 1.78x a square one. This is the only option that changes the price without asking for it.

Background

background: "transparent" is the default for generation, and it is what you want almost every time. "keep" leaves whatever the model drew.

Transparency is applied by cutting the flat background out, not by keying a colour. That is why a light grey backdrop works better than a busy one: there is a single clean edge to find.

Try it without a key

The SVG generator page runs the same engine. Generation asks you to sign in; vectorizing is free to try.
